August 25 to 29, 2026
An art brand we work with sells museum-quality art prints to collectors who buy for a specific room. Every collection launches as a short email series, and in the third quarter of 2026 we ran fifteen of them. This is the story of one: Birds + Feathered, five days at 20% off, from August 25 to 29.
The brief
Birds is a subject collection, and subject collections are harder to sell than décor collections: they speak to people who already love the subject. The job was to sell the effect a bird piece has on a room, not the bird itself.
What we built
Three emails, each with one job.

E1, Launch. Subject: “Something took flight”. Preview: “Birds bring movement to a wall, even perfectly still.”
The launch led with the art, not the discount. The offer stayed inside the email. Below the hero, a short collection guide taught the reader how to place a feathered piece: follow the direction of movement, hang it so the gaze points into the room, and remember that vertical pieces lift a space while horizontal pieces calm it.

E2, Feature. Subject: “Where birds belong”.
The feature email answered the next question a collector has: where would this go in my home? Two placements, a quieter wall for an ornate piece and a spot near a window or doorway for movement, each with an example.

E3, Last call. “The invitation to look up.”
The last call closed the offer with three pieces still available and one customer review.
The results
$3,878 from the launch email, $0.316 per recipient and a 1.10% click rate. The second-strongest launch of the quarter.
$1,969 from the feature email, with a 1.07% click rate.
$5,905 from 12 orders across the series, $1,968 per email. Second of 15 series in the quarter, behind only Contemporary.
$4,632 from one SMS for the same collection, three orders of high-value pieces.
Across the quarter, the six launches that kept the discount out of the preview averaged $2,384. The seven that mentioned it averaged $1,356. Birds was one of the six.
What did not work
The last call earned $58. It was the weakest send of the quarter, and it went out on a Saturday.
That one send led us to look at every Saturday send in the quarter. Five of the six earned less than the average of their own series. Since then, the brand launches on Tuesday, tells the story on Thursday, and closes on Sunday or a weekday. No Saturday sends.
What other brands can take from this
Sell the effect, not the object. A subject collection reaches beyond its fans when the email shows what the piece does for a room.
Give every email one job: launch, help them picture it, close.
Keep the discount out of the launch preview and let the product earn the open.
Read the misses. The weakest send of the series changed the whole calendar.
